RE: "fiver" recreational double endorsement

So in Michigan if you are pulling anything behind your fiver you need a separate license??? yes you need a seperate endorsment, go to www.michigan.gov/sos and look for recreational endorsment "R" for towing a trailer behind fifth wheel.Gives you a license to tow a total combined length of truck & trailer not to be longer than 65ft. And not to exceed the rated towing capacity of your truck.

RE: "fiver" recreational double endorsement

just curious what kind of testing was required? my husband and I are getting ready to go to DMV to get our endorsements, his license is up for renewal now, should he pay the renewal then get the endorsement or should it all be done at the same time? Here in Michigan it was just a 15 question written test, just the basic common sense stuff,no road test. I'm not certain on the endorsement time period, however I'm sure the DMV would probably pro-rate the cost somehow.

"fiver" recreational double endorsement

Went and got my Michigan recreational double endorsement "R" license today. Cost was $10.00 + $18 surcharge for processing because I already have a CDL "B" endorsement. I just felt the state robbed me of $28.00 as the lady working their said she rarely gets request for this. So how many people are on the roads pulling a trailer behind their fiver without an endorsement?

RE: Birds in the pin box

I was eating dinner inside the house and look out at the the camper and seen starlings flying in and out of the king pin box. Sure enough they where building a nest inside. I removed the nest before any eggs were laid. My solution to ending their free room was I stuffed the space with 2 of those cheap small plastic bounce balls (the kind you get in the toy dept at Walmart,etc... They work really well, and can be removed easily when I'm ready to hook-up and go.

RE: JAYCO vs WILDCAT? I Want a 5th wheel asap! Help!

We just bought a new 2008 Jayco 30.5 RLs light weight and paid $23,100 for the 5vr. It had a rough cost of $32k+. And with the 40th aniversary package included tv, elect awning, dream dinette table and the factory 2 yr warranty and the reputation of the Jayco for quality we couldn't go wrong.

wiring x-tra trailer plug for back of 5vr

just curious how others have wired an x-tra trailer plug for a pull behind with your 5vr...I have a Gm truck and really don't want a lot of ugly splices to mess up the factory wiring. Thinking of making some type of pig tail to come out of the 7 pin plug....please give me some ideas...thanks.

5vr bike rack idea

I'm looking for a bike rack idea to haul 4 bikes without getting them all beat up.Do I build something off the back trailer frame or something off the truck? I've tried the cheap racks with the 2" receiver and it gave my bikes paint job a great workout.(I'm sure, due to the bouncing around even with hd tarp straps attached) post pics or ideas. Thanks

tow hitch on back of 5vr?

I'm sure this has been ask before, however I would like some opinions on the installation/usage of a tow hitch on back of a fifth wheel. I just bought a new Jayco Eagle ultra light and would like to put a 2" receiver hitch on it to pull my 14ft/8hp fishing boat or possibly pull my Jeep Cj7 behind. Is this a common site to see? too much stress on the trailer frame? I'm sure some crazy things have been seen/done ,however I certainly want to be safe and practical.

RE: another GM mirror question

Its hard to explain however I will try...the mirror is held on by 4 (If I recall correctly) plastic post, if you apply pressure by pushing in then slidding the mirror down(or up) it should pop back in the plastic post. That should take care of the problem. If not hopefully you are still under factory warranty as I had to have pass side replaced on my 2004 Gmc 2500hd.

RE: Michelin tires cracking!!

I would be contacting the place of purchase, just to have them inspect the tires. Michelin is a top rated tire and I know people who have gotten 100,000+ miles out of a set. I'm sure Michelin will stand behind their tires.

RE: spray- in-bedliner

looking for opinions on spray-in-bedliners. I have had a truck cap on my truck for 4 yrs w/ a rubber mat. We have bought a 5th wheel and scheduled to pick it up next week, so I would like some type of protection from dents, etc. Should I have this done before or after they install the 5th wheel hitch? Thanks all for the advice...I called around to some local places that do this and desided to go with Rhino lining due to the cost and time frame thay can do it. I'm sure I will be happy with the performace and durability as I plan on keeping my truck for a number of years.(new trucks are too much$$)

RE: Jayco/Care free power awning

Is this the Super Lite unit you are getting? We just got that unit in March and have camped one night in it so far, and really like the fifth wheel. We had to go to a lighter unit, and this fit the bill. We like the power awning so far. We rolled it in when we went to bed in case a wind came up overnight. My husband is overjoyed with the ease of the push button operation. That is probably because he had a women tell him he had not done the awning correctly back when we had a manual operation unit. Yes this is the Jayco Eagle Super Light 30.5 fifth wheel....thanks for the info it helps ease the mind since we are not able to pick it up from the dealer until 5/20/08...:)

Jayco/Care free power awning

Our new Jayco 30.5 RLS fifth wheel is coming with a factory installed 20ft care-free power awning. Does anyone have this type of awning and what do you think of this?...worth the $$?...is this type of awning new to the market?
